Music Ministry

O Come, let us sing to the Lord;
Make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
Let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
Music Ministry is a core experience in the life of University Presbyterian Church. The psalmist instructs all of us, not just some of us to make a joyful noise to God with songs of praise. We believe that music is a gift from God and an offering to God. Through congregational song, our spirits are fed by the Holy Spirit, our minds are inspired by the words of our hymns, and through our singing we actively praise God with our voices and bodies.
At UPC, we believe that we are renewed and inspired by many different styles of sacred music and that we are called to be open to music from all times in history as well as new music being composed in our time. We rejoice that we are now able to also offer praise to God through music written by Christians around the world.
At University Presbyterian Church, we are blessed to have many members who feel called to serve God though UPCs graded singing choir and bell choir program. Our adult Chancel Choir is the backbone of our music ministry . All are welcome to join a choir, including children, youth and adults who are not members of UPC. Music Ministry at UPC is an important way to reach out into the greater Rochester community and invite others to join in praising God.
